Karen has been in private practice since 2005 and has been an ACC counsellor since 2012.
Karen is originally from Oregon, moving to New Zealand in 1996. She and her husband recently shifted to
Northland from Hawkes Bay where they lived for 21 years and raised their daughter to be closer to family and
enjoy the spectacular beaches and scenery.
Karen gets tremendous satisfaction from working with clients who have experienced trauma as they start to understand how trauma affects them and learn to stop blaming themselves for the traumatic events and the resulting symptoms.
Karen works with males and females over the age of 12 and clients of all ethnicities, religions and sexual orientations.
She uses an eclectic approach including Client centres (Rogerian), Narrative Therapy, CBT, Interactive Drawing Therapy, Psychoeducation, Mindfulness and Grounding techniques.
